What we store, and why

Your email address, if you set a watch. It is used solely for the watches you asked for. We send nothing until you click the confirmation link — a watch that is never confirmed never receives an email, and we treat that as the address telling us no.

A name and email, if you create an account. Accounts are optional and handled by Clerk, our sign-in provider; you can use Google sign-in or an email address. We store nothing about an account beyond that.

Almost everything else in our database is price history — what a hotel room cost on a given night. That data is about hotels, not about you.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with advertisers, and there are no advertising or cross-site trackers on this site. We don’t enrol you in anything you didn’t explicitly ask for — a watch on Lisbon gets you Lisbon, not a newsletter.

Every email we send

The footer of every email carries three one-click links: pause, change, and unsubscribe. None of them requires logging in. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

Where it lives

Everything runs on Google Cloud in the us-central1 region (Iowa, United States). A Postgres database stores the watches and the price observations. Sign-in data is held by Clerk on our behalf.

Cookies and analytics

If you sign in, Clerk sets cookies to keep you signed in — that is what they are for and all they are for. If you never sign in, we set no cookies of our own.

We may add Plausible, a privacy-preserving analytics tool that uses no cookies and builds no visitor profiles. If we do, it will count pages, not people.

Seeing or deleting your data

Email hello@traveldeals.com from the address in question and we will tell you what we hold about it, or delete it. For a single watch, the unsubscribe link in any of its emails is faster and does the same thing.
